I finally shot some Kodachrome. I got it processed with the CD from Dwaynes. I was not impressed. I rescanned a couple with my Epson 4490. They look better than what I got from Dwaynes. If my Epson scans look better than theirs, then there is a problem.
The Kodachrome slides look great though! Next time I will just have them uncut so I can them myself in strips of 6.
Just my rant for the day.

I have also been disappointed with Dwaynes' work. But I have had problems with the processing of B&W. I custom print my own B&W at home but it is nice to get some quick prints which I think of as sort of contact prints. I get my K64 done unmounted and scan myself.

Their standard scans are of size 4MB. Is this what you got from them?
What exactly was not satisfactory in their scans? Maybe you could tell us more about it.

The scans are over sharpened, some have a overly blue cast to them, the color is just off on some. It'll just be easier and less time consuming to just have them cut in strips of 6 for my own scanning purposes. But the actual slides look great! I've also become quite disappointed with Dwayne's - my last few sets of negatives came back dirty and pretty scratched. I now send all my B&W work to Images Photo http://mylab.com/index.html and have been very happy with the results.

Paul,
This lab does not seem to offer scanning services.
I just sent a roll of transparency film to NCPS and am very pleased with the processing and especially the scans. Of course, they don't do Kodachrome. I chose the enhanced scan which is 5035 x 3339, they also have a smaller scan (2048x3072) which is $5.50 (Dwayne's is $4.95 for a lower res scan.) More info here.
The roll I sent was half-frame, 78 total photos, but they charged the same as they do for a roll of 36 full frame. The half frame res is about 4150x2170. I can't imagine scanning 78 shots manually...I highly recommend this lab.

I will switch from Dwayne's Photo to NCPS. Thanks for the tip.

I have inspected some newly received B&W film from Dwayne's Photo. Two rolls had overlapping scans where you get half of a frame from each negative while the negative look fine. One roll had the negatives scratched from negative 1 to negative 16.

Sorry Raid, I don't usually order CDs, so did not know this.

Really poor QC, which is why I switched, although they are cheaper than most. They used to take much better care of the negatives...

Paul,
The handle all Walmarts for Kodachromes and they may have taken on themselves more than they can handle for good QC.
