Update on the process....Walmart processing
OK.. more answers on the route the film follows when sent to Fuji from Walmart.
I spoke with Fuji today... using the number on the envelopes. It's a 1-866 number on the envelopes I have. That number rang into Fuji and I spoke with a lady there.
Fuji does a bit of 120 processing, but E-6 and most C-41 goes out to a third party lab. The third party lab is in Texas for the Fuji number I called. I don't know the name.
As regards promoting the service, as far as Fuji is concerned, They give all the information for Walmart personnel to Walmart. It's left to the stores to train and promote services.
In the store I visit (which by the way, is not a Superstore... just a regular Walmart), the photo counter always has one or more persons in the department. When I picked up this last roll, there were two ladies. There is another who manages the department. When I took the roll in there were three people, aside from the manager. Now, admittedly, they didn't know squat about what I was doing, but they looked imminently trainable. So, it's very likely a management problem, on a per store basis. Employee turnover may also be an issue. Arm yourself with this knowledge and it will work. Don't look for assistance.. Just Do It! The prices being charged should not raise an expectation of knowledgable help from Walmart.
With that information, and until I lose a roll or start getting bad processing, Walmart will get my 120 business.
I submit that unless you know for a fact that your local "pro" processor is really doing your film, by actually watching the process, that your E6 may very well be going to the same lab in Texas that my E6 is going to.
I have paid much more per roll to have a professional firm 150 miles away do my E6 and I also know from personally visiting and talking with them that they also send E6 to a lab... (guess where) for processing. With postage both ways, and 8 scans (6X9) on cd. the last roll I did with them was over $23 (No Prints).
