Nice! I guess I'll hold onto my remaining FD lenses, in case I ever end up with a m4/3 camera. Too bad I already sold the 24/1.4L and 85/1.2L -- I bet those would be great on m4/3....:bang:

however, I have a technical question on the ep-2, prior to purchase. I have handled one in store, and know with 4/3s lenses how the display zoom works. Does the zoom function on manual focus have an immediate button ? I have read the previous ep-1 threads and understand menu/button customization, but do not see same for ep-2. The new pl1 is immediate zoom by hitting the magn. button, but seem to require hitting its neighbor for de-mag. At any rate, what is the optimal for the ep-2, assuming zoom is used for critical focus?

You press the center button on the control dial to enlarge the live image. Press it again to return to the full frame. The position of the focus area can be changed.

Oh your referring to MF focus assist... It sucks... Plain and simple.... However the evf is bright enough where u don't need it most of the time.

Whether you are forced to use the lens wide open depends on the lens design. I have manual aperture control with my cv lens. I believe that would be true with Nikon lenses. But I think you are right about Canon lenses where they are wide open or you need a Canon camera body to fix the lens at a specific aperture.

Only with EOS lenses... This is a Canon FD lens.... Full aperture control... I don't use it much since I picked up my cv lenses...

I have both FD and EOS lenses (for 5D) and adapters for m4/3rds for both. With the FD lenses, iris control is on the lens--VERY easy, no stopping down. With the GF1 its a one button MF assist--simply push in the back dial for magnified view which you can move to any area.
With the EOS lesnes, they will be wide open and unable for the iris to be changed on the m4/3rds (they have electrical contacts for aperture/shutter/EC, etc.). IF you want to change aperture, you must set it on an EOS body, hold the DOF preview button in as you dismount (with camera ON) and the aperture will hold. The fly in the ointment, of course, is that who wants to carry an EOS body to do this LOL--unless the GF1 is acting as your second/backup camera.
