Where does the E-P3 fall with the AA filter, thinner like the
E-PL1 or other.

The EP3 postdates the EPL1, so I would expect that it has the later filter.

For me, the biggest advantage of the E-P1 is that I already own it! I'm still happy with the images and operation and it still feels like a nice camera so I enjoy shooting it. I know the new cameras are better in many ways...

I bought the EP1, one year after it was released, with the pan.20mm
I was never happy with the image quality, mostly for high noise and banding issues.
I bought EPM1 about a year ago, for 200 euros... Couldn't ask for more! Very good image quality, lighting fast, better focusing, better video, etc...
I am now getting the 45mm, and maybe the 12-50 for video 😛 😛 😛

I use my EP2 and EPL1 as high end P&S cameras. Both cameras work well.
I am not tempted to get another EP.

I'm with you, Raid.
Until Olympus wise-up and put a built-in viewfinder in their Pen line, I'm not even going to consider upgrading my E-P2.

The E-PL1 was the first Pen to use the weaker low pass AA filtering. The cameras that predate that camera in the PEN line are PP1 and EP2. That means all PENS that came after the E-PL1 had the weaker AA filtering.

I have heard the first DSLR that used the lesser AA filter for increased sharpness was/is the E5.

I think the E-PM1 is a really cute little camera... have come close to buying one when they are on close out etc., but still haven't. Yes, the AF is blazing fast compared to the E-P1, but really, for IQ, at ISO 200, the E-P1 is quite good. Were your problems with it at 200 or higher? Just curious. Aside from snapshot use, I never go above ISO 200, but at the base ISO images are very clean, even for long exposures (I use a tripod instead of upping ISO).

The Oly 45 is very nice indeed, but if I were buying now, I'd probably look closer at the Sigma 60... just a thought.

This thread has a very useful discussion. Has anyone used the E-PM2? Curious whether this is an improvement over the E-PM1.

Steve- I've played with it a good deal, and my impression is it's pretty much like my E-PL5, but more plasticky and not tilt screen. The lack of a mode dial isn't as much of an issue on the e-pm2 vs the e-pm1, since the e-pm2 has the touch screen now- The basic control setup is the same as the e-p1, but some of the options like mode-selection work by touch, speeds things up quite a bit. Until you use it, it's hard to realize just how much the touch screen (limited though it is) improves the handling.

And there is definitely a difference in the sensors. More detail, less noise. I was happy w/ the old sensor, I'm Happier with the new one.

I know Jamie Pillers has owned one, maybe two? I lost track of whether he picked up one again after selling his first one- I can't keep up with him anymore!
He should have some insight here for you too.
