Hi,

Anyone know a good place to get slide and B&W film processed and possibly scanned in Honolulu, preferably near UH Manoa or Waikiki. I'm here for work until Friday and will be traveling again straight after and would really not like to carry a lot of unprocessed film around.

I actually did try to help myself and found this -

but would like to hear from those of you with some experience with the local labs.

Many thanks.

Cheers,

I think that Rainbow Photo is the only lab that still processes E6. They do b&w as well. I send most of my E6 and C41 to them and have never had a problem with their processing. They do a nice job but are quite pricey. They're relatively close to UH and Waikiki, a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk. If you drop your film off in the AM, it'll be ready by 2PM.

Photoplant will process b&w in-house but they send their E6 off to the mainland. Their b&w costs a little less than Rainbow Photo but they are further away and parking is somewhat hard to find in that area of downtown.

I've yet to try either for scanning but they both offer the service.

If you want to pick up some chemicals and process your own B&W, Imageworks in Kaimuki is a great shop.

Aloha!

Joel
