E6 went wrong...

It's not that I am novice at E6, it's my second screw up in about 10 years... Here is the story. I partially used E6 concentrate about 3 months ago (all went fine - good results) and stored the rest in the room terperature conditions (used Protecan). Now I had another batch of slide films to process - to my surprise the film came out not developed (completely thick, not transparent at all). What's your diagnosis - first developer turned bad?

From my limited experience with E6, I recall that E6 concentrate gets exhausted after 24 hours. Unlike C-41 which can last for a while.
Which is why I don't open my E6 box until I have enough rolls to develop.

I think you are talking about working solution, not concentrate. Open concentrate should last about 24 weeks (based on the datasheet that comes with the package).

It's been a while, but my experience when I was doing a lot of e6 was that an opened kit was good for about 6 months, max, depending on how much remained in the bottle. It seemed the 1st Developer was the chemistry that died most quickly.

I would strongly suspect blix which is used to remove silver

i thought both working solution and concentrate, basically the moment you open the bottles.

good to know though that the concentrate will last 24 weeks or 6 months.
found an opened kit in one of our shelves but it has probably been opened for over a year now.
