Early Adopters

The X1 upgrade firmware has been a topic of discussion for a long time. Folks are hoping for faster autofocus and a few other improvements. I suspect that Leica wants to get the firmware out, but it must be difficult to meet the expectations.

Very true... and with the X100 coming, they will be left with only diehard Leica fans (and rich guys) buying the X1 going forward I would suspect. I just had my X1 serviced by Leica. It had the peeling covering issue. I had them put the "leather" from the black one on my grey one. Feels better now in the hand... more barnack like. 😉

Of course everyone is expecting the worst with firmware. But I think Fuji has a lot more on the line than a new Canon, Nikon or Leica release. Fuji seems to really need a hit especially after the 300EXR disaster, they know this camera needs to be a hit and needs to be right if they want to start to recapture or at least re-introduce themselves to the upper markets as a serious camera contender.

My vote goes to the Bronica RF645. Great concept, great camera, and poor timing (introduced just as digital was starting to explode). The whole 135mm lens debacle didn't help the situation.
