Does anyone know when the first chrome Leica II's were produced? I have one with a 112,XXX serial number which would make it the same year but not the same batch (according to the Cameraquest list) as this specimen. This model differs from the later chrome II because it has the rounded housing and brighter chrome and would originally have had the larger speed dial with 20 instead of 20-1. The chrome finish was a special order that cost more than the black lacquer so not many people would have ordered them as the camera was expensive enough as it was. The ebay camera is not mine, I don't know the seller and I am not endorsing it, but you see this variant so rarely I thought it was worth a mention.

The close-up lens is also included. I assume it clamps on the front of the lens. This set looks interesting. Pity of the damaged vulcanite, and I assume it won't be easy to find an original speed dial in chrome.
