I'm considering getting a FED-2. The earlier models had a lower shoe. Can the KMZ 35mm viewfinder fit in that OK?

They should be able to! I have a Leitz Viewfinder (the VIOOH I think), and that fits in it! Any other members have a say on this?

Sorry I can't help, Nickfed. I've got a late Fed 2e with the flush accessory shoe, not the sunken one. I don't know how much "extension" that viewfinder has between its foot and its body.

One of my Feds has the sunken shoe. The KMZ turret finder fits fine, but don't expect much else to fit. The russian 35 and 95 finders sort of fit, but they don't fit all the way in. My Voigtlander VC meter does not fit at all.

No the bottom front of the finder will hit the top cover, I just tried it on three fed2's with low shoes to be sure.

But there are work a round’s... get yourself one of these adaptors that are made for flash work for a couple of $$, they will boost the height of the finder enough to solve the problem. This one is made by Hama

Now why didn't I think of that....
Ah yes, the cable to shoe adapter I already have, doesn't have a shoe on top. That Hama one looks the goods. Does it have another pc socket on the other side?
