Beautiful picture.

Thanks for the kind words. It was late October and the light had that specular winter quality. Days were short. Things I learned: The Georgians had the best food, the saunas were hot, and you could buy vodka at a stationery store.

"You can buy vodka at the stationery store............." Love it. Then no doubt they would drink it till they were stationary. 🙂

I occasionally drink vodka and enjoy it but these days have pretty much tried to swear off the stuff even though most of the vodka sold these days in the west is only 37% proof. In my book if it's less than 40% proof it's not vodka, it's flavored water. 😉

Though I must confess to loving good old Eastern European Slivovitka (plum vodka / plum brandy). Its a rare treat but I acquired a taste for the Zwack brand, 12 year old Slivovitz when visiting Hungary and it is fire water. It's up around 50% - 60% proof. And some other aged brands from this part of the world are up to 70%. WOW! Not to be trifled with......the same as the most potent brands of alcohol based hand sanitizers. Maybe I should buy some and tell my wife its internal sanitizer to protect me from COVID.

A few more taken in Budapest in 1998 - all scenic views, nothing special. Shot with a Nikon f801s and a Nikkor 28-85mm f3.4-4.5. (I did not take my Leica M3 as I was worried about losing it) Scanned with a flatbed scanner so digital results are variable.

... Prague, Czech Republic (is that eastern Europe?).

Honestly, I think there is no non-offensive way to ever refer to any current work as about "Eastern Europe". How about we just name the country? (ignoring capitalization to make a point)

And just for balance, I've visited just about every country in "Western Europe" and a literally identical content can be shot in every one of them. So let's keep our passive-aggressive western egos in check, shall we?

Not meant passive aggressively, just curiously. I have been to every country in Europe. In my view there are very clear cultural differences between countries with slavic, germanic, romance and finno-ugric languages. I can't find a scan, but I have a photo somewhere of a monument to the geographic centre of europe in Suchowola, Poland, but that seems misleading to me.

Anyway, I think everyone who has been to a former soviet state has a photo of someone fixing a low QA/QC car.

Thanks, Pan! It was a disastrous year for the Moldovans. A severe drought persisted throughout the summer. Things got so bad that the government had to reach out and request financial assistance and technical expertise to save the agricultural sector.
