I added a few of my opinions to this thread on photo.net and felt like I got eaten alive. If I sounded like I was out of line, will someone please let me know?

I'm new here at RFF but the thing I like best is that everyone is cordial, regardless of what equipment you bring to the party and regardless of your opinion. I'm a digital user AND a film shooter. But I was really astonished by how people talk to each other...on a RANGEFINDER forum! Why?

i think the comments about his change of format show a lack of understanding of what it takes to operate/work in some of the regions he does. i would presume he is far more committed to getting the image/story than he is to its credibility in the art world.

my 2 cents.

photo.net is plagued by the "experts" and often their language and behavior is down right boorish. i don't spend much time there as i tire quickly of the air of authority that seems to block out the sun.

You should see the arguing on the German Leica forum which sometimes goes short before being personal insults.
I don't want to complain or to backbite, but it seems they are a bunch of old guys with too much boredom and too much money (and often lack of talent for good photography).

On the other hand I learned that some guys in the international part of that certain forum are too much on the surface with their comments about e.g. posted photos (just they would like them all no matter what they show and how they look like).

That's also why I like RFF so much better. 😀

Yeah...I wouldn't quite call it "eaten alive". Besides, it's the internet....winning an argument on here is roughly equivalent to winning a race in the Special Olympics: Great, you won! You're still learning disabled though.

It's best to not let stuff like that get to you too much. You made some good points and I agreed with several of them; but anytime you go giving thorough opinions on forums, you can almost certainly expect someone to rebut them. It's like the understood one before x in algebra.

On the other hand, I'm glad you posted the thread since I now have a Salgado video to view from the OP and another link to info about the Mexican Suitcase.

Thanks!
