Ebay Anti-Bargains

Bill, when I reached my credit card limit for PayPal and they wouldn't allow me to use them further unless I provided them with bank account information, I stopped using them. I now pay for everything with money orders with an odd exception now and again when I've used other FREE services. With one exception (a highly regarded seller) that worked just fine, I deal only with FSU sellers who have partners in the States such as Western Bid. The one exception was when I sent a money order to the seller in the Russian Federation, IIRC. It was a smooth transaction.

Wim, my very FIRST purchase from the FSU was with Russcamera1111 and I'll NEVER deal with them again. It took 48 days for a J-9 lens to arrive because they shipped it surface after SWEARING to me that it was air mailed. No apology, no offer to refund any amount. They have no idea how much business their mistake has cost them. When I find a reliable seller, I'll often do repeat business with them even if an item costs me slightly more than from an unknown seller.

One of my buyers got a perfect Sprint PCS phone made by Samsung. I KNOW for sure it worked fine. She calles me 2 weeks later saying that the phone doesn't power up:) Yeah, sure. Some folks are so cheap - they get a good thing AND want their money back.

She filed a dispute with Ebay, but they backed me up! And rightfully so.....

I, too, try to sell to fellow forum members now.

By the way, anyone wants a $1,700 SONY VAIO laptop for $850.00 ?

If I knew that I would not be taxed by danish costoms about $400 to get it into the country and about $100 to get it shipped over here then it would be mine

it really sounds like a great labtop and a great deal - lots of ram and fast processor - wow wish I was in the states

when it is new over here it is more like $ 2.800

Made a bit of a mistake in buying an old Pentax via eBay from a guy in Vancouver Island... He claimed ignorance about camera details, and the rig turned out to have suffered impact damage on the lens. Knocked the focus helix cross-threaded on one side resulting in limited focus movement and likely a slightly bent body lens mount. Not such a good deal...

I certainly made a mistake over an auction for a 20-40mm zoom lens for Pentax Auto 110... I lost the purchase, as it continued beyond what I'd pay. These seem to have some collector interest. But apparently things didn't conclude well for the auction because the seller emailed me privately offering the lens for my highest bid amount. Not very smart, I bit and sent payment. After several weeks with no lens arriving and no responses to emails, I concluded I'd been had. It did eventually come, though, and was in exc condition as described. He apologized and had some reason for the delay, so I lucked out on that one.
