eBay: what are the chances...

Hi guys,

Just want to ask some opinion.

What are the chances these two Yashica Electro GS are the same item?

Both have similar blemishes (3 white dots above the "GS" logo and some kind of fibre near the rewind lever), missing rewind lever and possibly similar straps.

This one I won in Jan-06 and have not received yet (amongst other stuff that were supposed to be shipped together):

No, I am not suspecting seller is dishonest as I have bought from him before and items came although shipping is slow.

I wrote to the seller suggesting that maybe his packer forgot to ship out the items and let it be put on auction again. It is possible since he got thousands of items listed weekly. But he replied that my item was sent and this later camera is a different one.

Any views? Thanks.
 
You waited till now to write to the seller though you won the auction in Jan? wow, that's patience. I would've started chasing him 3-4 weeks after the auction end if I hadn't received my camera.

It's possible it's being relisted. It looks like the same camera. Perhaps you should ask for a refund.
 
I used to do lots of business with him. Always got my goods, sometimes quickly, sometimes not. But my last shipment of filters, which I ordered in April, still haven't arrived. I asked him why and he said he'd sent it out, and would check with the Post office.

I have wrote to him earlier on. And he said they are posted but could have been sent wrongly via surface mail and take longer. I had one package from him that came in after 2 months!

I was busy last few months and almost forgot to follow up with him. But he recently agreed to make a refund though which I have not exercised that option yet.

I think that those are the same cameras. The rewind knob missing and the bent thingy on the shutter release are strong indicators. It isn't obvious, but look close. I would ask for a refund.
 
I would insist on a refund. Specify what has not arrived and how much you expect to be refunded. I think there is a proecedure to request a refund in paypal somewhere.

I have bought some things from this seller - some arrived quickly, some not at all. He sometimes gets swamped and I think also sometimes lists items at least twice then forgets who won what. He has always refunded.
 
I have told seller last month that if I don't receive anything by around this time (mid-May), I will ask for a refund. But I was just a little shocked to see an almost identical item being listed. So I posted to check with you guys.

Yes - it is also possible he may have reuse an earlier picture but so far all the other items I got from him fit the picture.
 
I have dealt quite a lot with Rocky. Because of the number of sales, he did get a packer and more and more mistakes started happening. To be fair to the guy, he always made good and refunded when there has been a problem. Because of the problems he was having, his packer got the boot some weeks ago. Since then not only are the parcels delivered more promptly but there have been far fewer mistakes and everything has been much better packed. Given the time span though, I would go for the refund option.

Kim: Thanks for giving us the inside story. I will follow up with him. I know he is a busy man but he has always replied to my queries promptly.

Now I also know why in one package, I won a lens cap but got a shutter release. 🙂 The packer simply threw one random item in the box when he can't find the item I won.
