Hey Joe,

You could give us the guy's e-mail address and we could all start sending messages:

Where's the finder?

Where's the finder?

Where's the finder?

Kind of like an Arlo Guthrie "movement" kind of thing! 😀

How about it?

George

i'll keep it in mind...but i really don't want to instigate you guys!

Okay, I'll bite.

Hold your horse, it's coming!
When you receive it you'll see I added a bonus.
All good things come to those who wait.
Really, I did send it!
Ever hear of the Christmas rush? 🙂

Joe, I'm sorry for your troubles. The seller should be more patient. If the seller agrees to accept money orders there's usually a "Pay Now" option that asks how you intend to pay. If you check "Money Order" and then "Next", it will take you to a screen that gives you the seller's address AND TELEPHONE NUMBER!!! See if your auction will do that. It also provides a window for a message and lets the seller know that you intend to pay with a money order.

I won an Elmar lens on the 23rd and let the seller know immediately that I'd be sending a MO either Monday or Tuesday, depending upon the post office. They were closed Monday the 26th (Boxing Day to you chaps) so I sent it Tuesday. I emailed the seller that it was on it's way and he replied that he appreciated the notice. I should hear from him soon that he's gotten it and mailed the lens. I hope. 🙂

I remember a seller once posted positive feedback after the sale, and emailed me everyday asking me to post feedback. I emailed him that I will, but if he harasses me again, it would be negative. 😡

I got chased by an ebay seller to leave feedback before he'd even left any for me. He claimed he would leave it once I did so the "transaction could be completed" and chased about 3 times in as many days. Having ignored the early mails, on the third occasion I politely pointed out that I wished to test the camera (a Canon EOS IX SLR body) prior to leaving feedback but since my part of the transaction was completed first (ie. payment) perhaps he would feel free to leave his feedback first. Didn't hear anything from him again!

As a seller I would never leave feedback first (nor however would I be pushy with the buyer for feedback). I only consider the buyer's part of the transaction complete (i.e. complete enough for me to leave feedback) only once they had left feedback for me. Payment by the buyer is not necessarily the final part of their involvement, especially if disputes arise over the item that need resolving (e.g the goods might not arrive, might be damaged, or might not match the buyer's expectations). As a seller I would feel vulnerable having left good feedback early if I then had a buyer who started causing unjustified troubles. Should your testing of the camera have revealed a fault then your part of the transaction would not yet be complete as you have to manage a resolution with the buyer. That could be sending it back and being refunded or it could be something else. If you then (and this is purely hypothetical) messed about the seller at this late stage then the troubles you caused would not be reflected in the feedback since it was left purely on the basis of prompt payment.

Yes, ebay is a minefield!!

I wouldn't disagree from either side, I both buy (mainly) and sell (occasionally), sometimes I leave feedback straight after payment, sometimes not, it generally depends on what I'm selling. I sold an SLR body, lense and digital camera (all three separate auctions) a few months back and waited for the buyer's to leave feedback that they were happy. One of them never left it. He also chased two days after payment as to where his item was - yet I stipulated in the details it could take up to 3 working days for the item to be sent! Yet, earlier this year I sold some other items (a lot cheaper) and left feedback immediately.

I've had a few problematic items over the last couple of years but always got a refund, however have been reluctant to leave feedback first in case of any retribution from those few sellers who might. I suppose it works both ways.

However, it doesn't help when sellers (or buyers - one of my recent buyers having left feedback started chasing because I hadn't got around to leave him any) start pestering. He got a rather short sharp reply stating it was the christmas holiday season and I'd been busy! I have since left him feedback.

I miss highschool. 🙁

You must be younger that I. My aspirations are less ambitious.

There is a great song in the Broadway musical Avenue Q (i.e. the "naughty parody" of Sesame Street) titled: "I wish I could go back to college"

Of course we can't - that's the "PURPOSE"* of the song - but we've all felt that at one point or another! 😉

Happy new year,
George

* "PURPOSE" is a main theme of the story-line. 😀

Why don't you send him an email explaining your efforts yet politely saying that with his constant emails you may be forced to give negative feedback.

hopefully the seller is not just working on creating some sort of fake paper trail that will allow them to scam you out of the payment.

Good luck.

Another good reason to use your C-Card via PayPal.

Double layer protection.

Recission capability is a wonderful thing!
