Anyone know the differences? In hand the EC2 has distance scales for both feet and meters where as the EC only has ft. Is there any internal things different, the distance scales is all I can see.

My two EC cameras have both meters and feet scales, and i have been looking in their manuals, and everything seems the same except that in the EC2 you have a green light in the viewfinder that indicates flash photography & the EC is a blue light, so i think they are equal (or the same) cameras.

I haven't worked on an EC type in a long time, but as I recall the difference between EC and EC2 is that the EC emits the regular shutter release click even with dead / no batteries. Problem is, the shutter isn't opening. The EC2 release button will press down, but with dead/no batteries, there is no shutter sound. No shooting all day getting no exposures. John

I noticed on the EC2 that the detents for the focus are on meters rather than ft like the EC. I took the lenses apart and noticed a lever missing on the EC2 and a spring that is on the opposite side compared to the EC. They are both the same shutter. Not sure what the improvement is. Here is a diagram for the EC2, it is actually the diagram for the EC only with a few part numbers crossed out and new ones added. The parts with the crossed out numbers are not in the EC2.

I've just tried in my two 35 EC, and without the batteries the shutter button goes all way down and you hear the shutter working but the shutter blades don't open. Just open with the batteries.
