I took this image back in June 0f 2009. Koch had just purchased his plot in the Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum for 20K and had his headstone with inscription installed. He said at the time, “Soon…..”

Keith,

Sad news.

Yes. I kind of think of him as my Mayor - January 1, 1978 – December 31, 1989. I moved into NYC in the fall/winter of 1976/1977. A pivotal period in my "growing up".

rip to a guy who was so many things i love about new york. if you were to put a picture next to "new yorker" in the dictionary, it would look like ed koch. it would certainly sound like ed koch.

Yes, sad news..
He did a radio show with us every Friday until about a month ago.. Interesting character..
Nothing funnier than listening to him argue with a caller..

Keith,

Back in the late 70's I was a NYC cab driver. Way back the there basically were no Asian cab drivers. Mayor Koch more or less took over a very different New York; one that was left for dead and almost went bankrupt in 1975.

He was a good man.
