You may have read here that Jerry Sorin, the camera repairman who was endorsed by Eddy Smolov to do camera repair past away last week. He was a nice man who did good work. He was in his sixties, and I am sorry that he passed away.

I called Eddy a few minutes ago to see how he was taking Jerry's passing way, and I wanted to make sure that Eddy was OK. During the conversation, Eddy asked me to mention here that there is another camera repairman he can vouch for. His name is "Fima", and his telephone number is (212) 563 1651.

Good camera repair persons are hard to find, and when they are endorsed by trustworthy people like Eddy, I would give him a shot at a repair that you may have planned.

I have no connections to Fima, but I trust Eddy's words about him. He told me that Fima can repair any camera. He also can clean lenses,

Sorry to hear that...

Good camera techs are hard to find. If anyone needs it, I know one here in France (he also speaks english) who can work on a lot of old camera bodies, Contaxes among them. He is also good with leather, and he can make bellows, ...

"Fima" is actually Fima Binder of Panorama Camera Center at 124 West 30th St in Manhattan.

Eddy is doing fine, and he is retired. I can feel that he is feeling better than before. He laughed.

Shock to me also

I emailed Jerry week before last and arranged to send in one of my Contax IIs for a rangefinder fixing. I Fedexed the camera and it arrived on Jan 26. I heard nothing from him for a week until his son eMailed me and said that he had passed away. He said he would be looking into Jerry's packages. Although it was via eMail it was as if he had died while talking to me. My heart goes out to his family.

Firms has repaired my Contax cameras and done a great job. He also modified my 1932 Leica 9cm lens to fit on my Canon 5D! He is a very creative guy. He made a gear to fix the frame overlap problem on my Super Ikonta IV, etc.

Could you give his info?
thanks

I realize this is a 12 year old thread but after 6 people told me they would not CLA my Tenax II with the exception of one person I won't mention because I can't think about it without being mad about a $1200 price to CLA what is already working camera (Price gouge much?) Jimmy Koh referred me to Fima Binder. I think he must be mostly retired but still working out of his home in Florida. He's doing it for around $200. Im shipping it out tomorrow. His new number is 917-941-5341

Update on repair. Fima was great. Completed the CLA in 3 days which is a record for a CLA for me. Got it back today and all the issues seem to be resolved.
