Efke 25 + Rodinal = beautiful tonality

I've been shooting Efke 25 lately and developing it in Rodinal (1+100, 10 minutes, 68 deg F) and I have been very pleased with the results: minimal grain (duh!), wonderful tones, and an exposure range that seems broader than T-Max 100. Attached are a couple of scans from a roll of Efke 25 that I developed recently.

That sounds interesting, I've never tried Efke 25. I have tried Tmax100 with Rodinal 1+100 but semi-stand. It did have great tonal range, but it didn't seem any different than 1+50 so I use that occasionaly. Recently I've been using Tmax100 at 50 in HC-110h and finishing the last three minutes with Borax. Here is one, this is my stock shot for shadow detail:

10 minutes seems a bit short for 1:100, according to the massive devchart.

Couldn't resist posting some of my results with this film. I have only ever tried one roll of KB25 in Rodinal 1:100 for 12 minutes, I think (just followed the massive devchart). I also tried KB50. Both are nice films, and I am going to use them more when my supply of Agfa APX100 is gone. For example,

imush - lovely series! I particularly like numbers 3, 9, and 11. Re the time: 10 minutes yields good results but maybe I'm pulling it out of the soup too fast. I'll try it a bit longer next time.

In the days when this film was Adox KB14, Neofin Blau was the recommended soup (Shows how old I am!!)

Great shots, folks. I shot a couple of rolls of Adox Pan 25 recently and first impressions were good - I need to get to know it a bit better.

EFKE 25 is one of the best BW films for scanning
Developed in Rod 1+100 for 10 minutes it has no problems with artifacts (grain)

Rollei ATP is also very good

While I do agree on the tonality, Efke25 in Rodinal just gave me way more grain than I'm willing to accept at this film speed. In fact, I found the grain to be the about same as PanF in Rodinal, which is a full stop more sensitive...

Efke 25 in Rodinal is my favorite B&W combination. Great blacks! A bit contrasty in direct sunlight, but absolutely superb on a cloudy day or if your subject is in a shadow.

Thanks Ruvy! I scanned the negatives on my KonicaMinolta DimageScan Elite 5400II and then sharpened them in PS.

Kossi - what film did you find with less grain at this speed? Or do you use a lower speed film and if so, which one?

markg: nice images, but the contrast seems to be a bit on the high side... isn't it?

i've only used one roll of my efke 25's so far, i rated it 25 and dev'ed it in diafine (usual 3+3min, 20 degrees). Turned out just a bit too thick...but still very useable/scannable. i guess an e.i. 50 would be better. Here are two frames (6x6!! so don't look for the grain).

Not sure if you were asking me as well, but I use a Nikon Coolscan IV film scanner (an older model that only does 2900dpi).
