While looking at JandC Photo's site a little while ago, I noted that they have a special on 100 feet rolls of EFKE 100 B&W film. The say it was discovered in a European warehouse and their normal price of $34.99 is reduced to $19.99. Expiration date is 9/2006.

I ordered some and plan to freeze it until my APX-100 film is gone.

Walker,

Great tip. I ordered some also. I will use my other 100 ASA film first than the Efke. I have used the 25 speed film and look forward to getting this film.

Walker,
Yes, I did just receive notice that the film is shipped, so we don't have to wait until the end of January. Look forward to getting it and trying it out.

I have used Efke KB 100 from J&C, but not the bulk rolls. I like the stuff quite a bit - very different from ALL other B&W film, though. You can even tell when you have it in your camera - it 'drags' through harder! Lovely images.

I was planning to place an order with J&C today.. thanks for the heads up

I'm planning to get my feet wet (hopefully not literally) with home developing.. what chemicals work well with that film?

Brett, Rodinal 1:50 or D-76 (ID-11) 1:1 will work just fine. EFKE is the old ADOX formula and is really good stuff...... lotsa silver. Others may suggest different dilutions of Rodinal but it should do well regardless.

Can anyone give a compare and constrast on EKFE 25 vs 100? (I love the 25 and find it the most like TechPan.)

What I use now:
Fine grain = EKFE 25
Everyday and night film = Trix 400 (often pushed to 1600)
Soft or portrait = Plus X

Is there a place in my frig for EFKE 100?

My EFKE 100 bulk film showed up in my mail box yesterday. Anyone else who ordered their reduced price bulk film because it has a short expiration date should be getting theirs soon. Mine is due to expire in May, 2006. I immediately stuck it in the freezer and will begin using it when I run out of Agfa APX-100.

Just throught others who ordered it would like to know it's finally being delivered.

Walker,
You started this thread nearly two months ago at the beginning of January, is J&C always this slow or were there issues with this specific order because of the special?

Yes, there were issues. This was a "special" on film being held in a European country (Germany, I'm guessing) warehouse. It has a short expiration date so was sold pretty cheaply. The sale began at the beginning of January with delivery scheduled for late January. Either shipping from Europe or US Customs problems delayed delivery to customers until now.

EFKE is very good film and I'm happy to finally have it in-hand.
