I just bought a gummied-up but cosmetically nice black dial IIA on ebay, and should not have much trouble doing the CLA. The thing that's odd about it is that the Z is missing from the logo in the accessory shoe. Is there any interesting provenance associated with that error?

I'd hardly call myself an expert but I think I've only ever seen 'Zeiss' engraved on the II's i've seen... of which i've only seen about a handful.

Other than the engraving machine having messed-up the Z of that accessory shoe at the factory, and the QC staff having let the camera go ahead on the market nonetheless, I see no other explanation.
Chance factor...

Actually, it appears like a philatelic rarity... as a postage stamp with inversed colours.
In my opinion, this piece could be unique. Only an eccentric billionaire (and a camera enthusiast) would feel proud to answer the question "what's your favourite camera?" with a "..erm... my eiss Contax IIa, of course!".
Best wishes,
