Either my hands have gotten much steadier in my old age (doubtful), or IBIS really works.
Was playing around with a Nikon Z6 yesterday, with a stack of Leica M to Nikon Z adapter, and Amedeo Nikon S to Leica M adapter, and a Nikkor-P.C. 8.5cm f2.0 lens.
This shot was taken, hand held, at 1/15th of a second.

That IBIS is pretty impressive, and I wasn't even aware of the camera doing anything.

Yes, ibis can work in place of a tripod at times. You are surprised?

Yes I was surprised. Always thought that stuff was kind of a marketing gimmick. Also, didn't realize it worked with dumb adapters, but it seems to.

I haven't heard of IBIS. I'll have to look into it. I do know that Steadicam makes a small model for use with small cameras.

I bought a Z 7 a few months ago, and it has replaced my Leica SL for use with Leica, and all my other lenses. The ibis is very helpful, but it’s a better camera than the SL in every way, sensor well ahead, obviously, but general usability, files, everything. And I say this as someone who loved the SL, and never had any issues with it.
The ibis is great, but the Z bodies have much more to recommend them than that, I’ve found.

IBIS is "In Body Image Stabilization", it's built into some mirrorless camera bodies.

It works with any adapter, and also works in conjunction with AF VR lenses to provide additional stabilization for VR lenses, with a couple of caveats. All upside, no downside.

IBIS is worth the money. On my Fuji X-H1 it works flawlessly, as long as you program the camera correctly.
