Ektachrome 200 is a goner

Indeed it is bad timing. Fuji 400X is a pretty sweet film though if you want a faster chrome film.

I think one of E200's most unique characteristic is it's red sensitization, making it useful for astrophotography. Not that I've ever used it for that...

I thought this was already know. I'm debating stocking up some. Last fall I switched from colour negative film to slides for my colour film photography. Previously I'd only used slide film when shooting 3D. I remember shooting 1600 ASA slide film in the late 80's. 🙁

Why? 4x5, 35mm, and 120 are all coated on different bases. It's quite possible that there is a large following of a film in one format but not in another. Though I agree, one would assume that relative popularity of a film is somewhat consistent across formats.

E100G/VS is a generation behind Provia 100F, visibly so. They'll either have to update or they'll lose market shares - in either case continuing two of them is unlikely.

I'm guessing Kodak is not going to release another E6 film. They really do seem to be letting their E6 lines wither on the vine.

E200: Great for star trails, but too expensive for anything else.

It also pushes quite well to 800. Unfortunately that increases the price even more as push processing usually comes at a hefty surcharge.

I feel the E100G/VS (or at least the VS) has such a different look to Provia 100F that, although Provia may be technically better, there is still reason to prefer E100 VS.

Either way, I think most would agree that colour transparency has a short life expectancy at this point.

Though I love the stuff, the reality is that shooting Ektar and the new Portras will do me for colour. Might have to wean myself off Provia 400X however.

What market share might that be? Let's see, at least a few folks on this board and a few other boards. It is unfortunate, but E6 is not looking like the last film group standing.
