I've shot one roll and have another three or four in the fridge. From the little I've seen, I agree with the comments that Ektar 100 compares well with Ektachrome 100, though I have to give it also a whirl at EI 80 which seems a bit more promising. One thing that slide film does, even for those of us who don't project, is that it provides for a quick overview. It's as if you have a contact sheet without any need to scan the entire roll. It's more expensive but it saves time.

No problem scanning E100
I dont think Ektar looks like this
I met up with a local photog who was selling some overstock he had (P400) but told me he had some 120 ektachrome. Too bad I was out of cash and could only grab 1 roll of E100VS and another of E100G. Expired 2007 and always refrigerated, yours looks great!
EDIT: Haven't shot E100 yet (waiting for 120) but a few samples I've seen under certain conditions approach Kodachrome in look. I do wonder that at Kodak they may nudged it a bit towards getting that look, within the design envelope of approaching E100G.

I bought several rolls, now I'm just waiting for the snow to melt so I can use it.

I find it easier to store it in the freezer.

Ok, it is Spring in some parts and warmer weather is ahead.
Reminder:
Have you stocked up on Ektachrome?
Who is shooting E100 this month? You know you want to.
I have been busy shooting 220 Ektachrome and I need to order some more 35mm E100 soon!

I thought about getting a roll for this Easter in Santa Barbara, CA, but didn't order in time. We are having a late spring here so I have a couple of weeks. My hip is good and I'm almost back with the living.

I think I'm finally ready to order some.
In June I'll be spending a long weekend Upstate right on the Hudson River.
If the weather is bad I'll shoot BW in my Nikonos, and save the E100
for our leaf-peeping trip in The Berkshires Columbus Day Weekend.

Agreed. If you are not projecting, E100 offers very little over Ektar. I see nothing in the photos in this thread that attract me to this film, because I don't project. Ektar will be far less expensive, offer way more dynamic range, and is much easier to process.
Mmm, perhaps... The new Ektachrome 100 presents a more true luminescence of the light and colour - real colour - to my eyes. And so do most slide film. I shoot it because it shows the colour that was there on the scene. Or is it the contrast? Any ways, it's more real to me.

Several posts mention high cost.
Currently the 135-36 film is available from various sellers for just under $13.00.
B&H has 1 roll with prepaid mailer for processing by Dwayne's for $23.95;
film only alone (without processing) is priced at $12.99 per roll.

Only shot 1 roll of ektachrome so far but here's some shots straight out of the scanner. Tried to pick a variety of color pallets. Shot on nikon n8008s with 28mm 2.8 ai lens.

I know it's a bit OT and more appropriate for the GAS thread, but spend those $ on Ektachrome instead! Thinking about the film and processing keeps my GAS at bay.Hmmm... my local camera shop has a nice n8008 for sale at $49..., maybe...
Ironically, I thought I would first shoot slide with the Rolleicord with Ektachrome... and turns out I'll be as I just loaded the E100G roll I got the other day into it. Now, flowers aren't still here so it's time to look for other colorful things and maybe take a while to shoot it through.
Would like to get some friend on it, but life keeps them apart of my cameras.
