[FONT=&quot]In my ongoing quest to show the beauty of Ektar 100, I decided to try my hand at photographing some butterflies. I think of these images as a very rough sketch (who knew how hard it would be to mount butterflies?) but I think you can see the direction this is going. The film captures the rich tones and iridescence in an amazing way.

Really nice colors there, Damaso! I'd like to see actual prints of these, seeing them on line is not doing them justice.
FYI: you can put a live butterfly(or other insect) into a freezer for about 5 minutes and they will be very lethargic for a while when you take them out--plenty of time to pose them and get a photo.

It was taken with a Canon 85 f1.8 lens. These butterflies have already been dried so I needed to mount them myself (it gets easier with practice). The combination of Ektar's grain and color rendition really makes this subject matter stand out. I hope to do more int he future...

I have a decent film scanner. What I found interesting is that Ektar 100 is by far the easiest color negative film I've ever scanned. It takes a lot of the work out of the post production side...

I agree it is the easiest color film to work with. Or in proper English, it is the easiest color film with which to work.

Where is the butterfly from?

I just got back my first rolls of Ektar and the lab scans are pretty good. I am going to rescan a few of those to see if I can do better.
I don't scan very often and the scanner I have is pretty basic so I might be better off scanning some of the butterflies themselves rather than any photos of them I take!

Got 'em from a seller on eBay. Some were from China, the others from the mid West? Hard to remember right now...

Thanks, for the info I wonder if they were originally from Central America. And I guess I should have said: From where is the butterfly(?). (in another thread they are picking apart the word 'so' as use in the E language). SOOOOOOOOO, I'm being very careful.

Don't you mean "From where is the butterfly?" 🙂

I like the photos, and I love Ektar 100. I've already shot about 7-8 rolls of it, and I have about 25-30 in the freezer to play with.
