There’s at least one YouTube video showing electronic contact cleaner being used to fix sticky command dial wheels on certain digital cameras - the caution being to remove the battery and memory cards first.
In the video, the spray is directed towards the gap between the dial and camera body and the dial is rotated at the same time. This technique seems to work well.
No particular electronic contact cleaner is mentioned. Referring to the above post, is there a reason Deoxit, specifically, should not be sprayed?
I’m uncertain whether this spraying technique is a good idea or not. I’ve read comments on dp****** where people have done this; all reported good results and nobody has reported problems. My camera-repair friend says “don’t do that!” and says the camera needs to be opened up.
