I have recently gotten an Electro 35 GSN. After getting a new battery for it, the battery check light works, but the light meter doesn't. The shutter works, but only at 1/500 of a second, and doesn't change even when its dark. And the red and yellow lights never flash, even in bad lighting. Opening the bottom part showed no corrosion, but I was unable to take the top off to see if there are any problems there. Any idea what is causing this, and how to take the top off?

I had this happen to me. The battery cap makes the contact with both the meter and the battery check light. It's possible for the battery to contact only one but not the other. I ahd this happen when using a shorter battery plus a spring - the spring was making only partial contact so the battery light was working but not the meter. Try using crumpled silver foil instead or foil plus spring, or get a proper sized battery.

I ordered the appropriate battery from the Small Battery Co in the UK and it worked fine as soon as I swapped it in.

This is a bit of a late reply, but I tried the foil thing, and still no luck. Also, I noticed that on the B mode, the shutter doesn't stay open while holding down the shutter button, which I'm pretty sure is supposed to do. Any other idea of what could be wrong inside, and how to get the top off of it, so I can see what/if anything is wrong?
