Hello fellow Yashica shooters,

on my 35 GT, the front part of the lens barrel (from the ring "Auto" - "Bulk" - "Flash" ring onwards) is loose and rattling. It gets better when screwing in the ring that is around the first lens element, but this seems to make the whole front part move forward more so that the shutter mode ring doesnt arrest anymore.

When screwing out the ring around the front lens element a tiny screw is visible, and I was told I had to fasten it to make the barrel stop rattling. Thing is, I don't seem to have any screwdrivers small enough.

Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you solve it?

Otherwise I enjoy shooting this camera very much. If you're interested, check out my website: http://www.efixmedia.de/photography/tag/35-gt/

Did you remove the front lens element? You shouldn't be able to see any screws unless you do. Or is this a loose screw floating around in there? Once the element is out you will see two sets of three screws each. These should all be tight, of course. The other thing that affects things is the tightness of the brass scalloped ring at the very center that holds the outer parts onto the shutter area. Check if this is loose. Normally there is a paint mark on the ring and the surrounding structure. If they are not lined up then something has moved.
Keep in mind that the lens barrel assembly always has a little bit of looseness to it between the various rings. Basically, just loose enough to be able to move them just a little bit. This is normal. If you have large amounts of movement, then there is definitely something wrong.

Hope this is helpful... :D
