Electro 35 GTN stiff ASA dial

Hi all,

I've recently acquired an Electro and everything works well and film shows no leaks. However, the ASA dial is very difficult to rotate. In fact I can only move it by putting my fingernail in the orange marker and dragging it round.

I've seen a few posts about how to remove the dial and I wondered if this is quite simple? I don't want to break anything and guess it might just need a clean and lube below? Has anyone done this and able to advise the procedure for cleaning and lubing?

The dial is indeed easy to remove. Get a paper clip or pointed tweezer that fit the two holes in the middle of it, it unscrews. The screw is short, and there should be a wavy washer under it. It sounds as if yours is missing, causing the friction.

The ISO indiator plate is not attached to the dial, so be sure to write down what iso setting it is on when you remove it. There is a tiny hole near the 1000 mark, use a tooth pick to hold it in place while tightening the screw back on.

Hi, as said above it´s quite easy to remove.

In fact the ASA dial is the only way to compensate exposure on that camera.

If you need to overexpose due to backlight, then you can set a lower ASA speed in order to do so.

i wonder if that dial can be twiked to have a little ahndle in order to make it simpler to adjust...🙄

BTW my old GTN was also very stiff

Thanks guys. Will take a look and see if I can improve it. Was a pain trying to adjust for exposure compensation today.

My freshly serviced GT is fairly stiff as well, I just assumed that's how it was.
