Electro 35 GX under/over lamp replacement

Hi,
I recently picked up a nice 35GX and just bought some batteries (2x LR44) to test it.
The test light in the frame counter and overexposed light both work well but underexposed light was very dim when testing it before suddenly going very bright and failing.
Before I take the top cover off, what bulb should I use?
My local electronics store has mini-lamps, rated at 0.1A current and at 3V. There are two sizes 3mm OD x 7mm or 4mm OD x 10mm.
Is the small one the right one, or do I need something else completely?

Don't know for sure about the GX, but in the GSN the bulbs measure about 3mm x 7mm. Can you take the top plate off to measure the lamps in your GX?

I have an old GSN I'm using for parts, and I can send you the warning-lamp bracket, including the two bulbs, from it if you'd like to try it. No guarantees, of course. I can let you have it for postage. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the information, Noel. I just thought I'd ask before I took the top cover off. I'll take it off just to be sure and then get a couple of these mini-lamps from my local electronics store. Thank you very much for your kind offer, I might take you up on that if I can't solve the problem here, but I should be fine.

The smaller size will be safer than the bigger size. Replacing the bulbs is not difficult, a little soldering is involved. The top cover is easy to take off, but beware of the three flash wires which run from the body to the top cover, they are easily broken.
 
Well it all went well. It took me a bit of time to get the advance lever off, I didn't work out that the brass washer that required a circlip plier (US= spring clip) actually did come off and wasn't part of the top cover. I kept searching around for hidden screws! The bulb I bought from my local electronics store (Jaycar) fitted perfectly and I manage to solder it on with not much difficulty, through I had to strip the wires with a pair of embroidery scissors (much to my girlfriend's chagrin), the wire gauge is so small!

So thanks for everyone's support! It all seems to go well, now to run a film through it!

Good work! I'm looking forward to seeing shots from it.

I recently had to replace some of the wiring in a GT, and I found out it's 28-gauge (in the States, anyway)--pretty fine wire, all right. I found some in a local electronics surplus store.
