Are you saying that later models (after plain G) are more picky in regard of battery voltage? I haven't heard/read cases that 6.2V battery would fry Electros, neither early or late. Am I missing something?

Oh, you have got 4SR44 - in my opinion, much better option than 4 LR44 buttons or single 4LR44 cell. Because of silver oxyde. No, because of it's discharge curve.
