My gs focusing ring is not stiff for two fingers operation.

But I would like to make it very soft.

a) Is it a too complex issue for DIY ?

b) Do you know any site detailing how to do it ?

Thanks,
Ruben

It is fairly complex presuming you get past all the wires especially if you have never had a helical focus mount apart before.

Since the Electro35 was a go anywhere, do anything kind of camera alot of them have problems with the focus mount. One poster suggested it is the result of improper cleaning but I am more inclined to believe it is because the cameras were left in a hot place--a car trunk, glove box or even on the dashboard. The lubricant gets very thin and runs under these conditions. What is left becomes sticky so you end up with a ring that is hard to turn or definitely not smooth....Roger

Hi Roger, again

I fully agree the task is complex beyond my present level, so i haven't touched the camera.

But I would like to stress again that my Electro focusing ring is not stiff, it is just not as smooth as a kiev prima dona like me would like to have for fast focusing.

So i wish there was a shortcut for adding just a bit more of softness.

Cheers and Thanks,
Ruben

Just as a sidebar, the earlier model professionals I have turn with one finger...the later models seem to be machined to looser tolerances and the fit is not as good....Roger
