:rolleyes:Hello I have recently purchased my first RF ,Yashica Electro 35 GTN
I have been delighted with its available light ability, but on the odd occasion the use of flash ( fill flash) would be useful. I currently own
two Nikon Speed lights I need to know would these be compatible
with my new purchase. The fear of damaging my RF or speed light
has stopped me so far, any advise on this dilemma would be great. Thanks

Hiya...
The GTN seems to have a mechanical shutter/sync contact, so there should be no risk of damaging either the camera or the SB...! Even if you mean a very old SB with higher probe voltage, currents are so low that the camera won't hardly notice it.
The only case where you can damage a camera with HV strobesyncs are newer cameras with silicon switched syncs. You may fry som electronics there.

Getting the fill correct is another question... :) You could allways nudge the ASA downwards a bit, if normal compensation doesn't work. 1/2 sensitivity ASA gives 1 stop underexposure of ambient.

I've used an SB800 on my Electro GSN successfully many times. It actually works quite well with the SB800 in "A" mode. Not sure which model flashes you have, but the higher end models have an auto mode which you basically tell it the ASA, aperture, and focal length then it figures out power based on the amount of light it sees reflected. Works remarkably well.

Although even without 'A' you can use the flash in manual mode and set the power level using the guide number grids in the owners manual for the flash. A bit more involved, but will work.
