Hi,

I hope there are a few members with experience with a Contax RX out here: How precise is the focus indicator in the Contax RX? Does it work reliably with a 1.4 lens or is one better off forgetting about it and using the screen with the rangefinder?

Hi,

I forgot, anyone knows what the minimum lens speed is for the EFI to work? I take it there is one like on a SLR.

Merry Christmas to all,

bring this thread up after 3 years because i did not find any deeper information in the net so far, so anybody has experience with the focus-indicator?

Surprisingly well, as far as I remember. We had a 35/2.8 shift, 35/1.4 and 100/2 macro. But it's a long time ago, and I always treated it merely as a confirmation of what I could see anyway.

Cheers,

R.

I found it to be cool technology but I never used it. I moved to an Aria for the smaller lighter body. The viewfinder is large and brighter than an RX and I found that more useful.

ok, the reason behind my question, i have more and more problems to focus manually, with M6 35 Cron is no problem, but with 50mm and wide open i often miss shots (love to take pictures of my friends when we are out), so i need somehting with AF or AF-confirm, filmbased and with more classic look like the old Zeiss or Summilux pre lenses.

The RX system works quite well from my experience, I used it for many years. The Contax focus screens are all excellent though so you will not often need it. If you are having trouble in low light The system in the RX will not provide much help. Remember the name... "Focus Confirmation". It's not AF even in the best light much less so in the evening.
