Hallo everybody, I had three electros in my life: first was perfect but unfortunately I sold it...the second was, well IS awful, the lens is too wobbling, so I bought a third electro that is a not wobbling one but while fixing the pad I destroyed it (asa dial and lens...***t!). I noticed that the wobbling one has the serigraphy "copal" on the depth of field scale, grey plastic I think, view from under tha camera, near the screws that are retaining the ring itself. the screws are phillips.
The good one is different: the serigraphy is on the aperture ring and is "copal elec", the screws are flat.
Do your electros suffer from the same disease? Is there a LINK between the two different variations and the amount of wobble?
Please share your experiences about it...as you can imagine now I want to buy a new GOOD one.
Thank you
ciao

Andrea,

I just took a look at my Electro GT (with 'Copal Elec' & flat screws)... while the lens does wobble a tiny bit with some force I have to honestly say that I've never noticed it before. Certanly during normal use I wouldn't have known there was any wobble at all.

If you are looking for another Electro I would post a 'want to buy' add & hopefully one of the European members here will have one they are willing to sell.

Mine has just the slighest movement - nothing abnormal. I don't know how it was before, as my son did some refurbishing on it before he gave it to me.
I just know it takes very sharp photos.

I'd go with Greyhoundman's advice. Plus mine wobbles and it has no effect on the pictures.

Yes, thank to everyone; but...mine was another question: the points are:
1. I'm not a picky man...;) My electro is way too wobbling. I hear clicking and clacking...
2. I would like to know if one of the two variations (copal or copal elec) is, or might be, less prone to this problem.
3. I need a new electro:D , so if I had a clear winner, I will choose one that "would be" less problematic.

BTW. I am not very sure about the non effect on pictures of a sligthly wobbling.. at least above 8x10 enlargements....but if I will found a good one I will do some testing for the forum, and I let you know:)

So, please tell me if you want:
1. mine is wobbling/not wobbling
2. mine is copal/copal elec

Thanks again

My GSN follows your description of the wobbly one (COPAL, Phillips screws) but has very little wobble. I do like to try to quantify things, but this is approximate: the lateral wobble, that is, the amount the lens moves when I push it from one side, is about 0.2 to 0.3 mm. Not at all objectionable. The amount it moves in and out (forward and back) without changing the focus setting feels even smaller than that.

Andrea,

1) mine is wobbling, 1-2 mm of tilting when pressed

2) mine is the "copal" only mark with phillips head screws
