EliteChrome 100, I may have made a mistake

Couldn´t resist today when I saw EliteChrome 100 for 15,99 a fivepack including development.

But now I´ve read the specs and I´m not so sure if I didn´t make a mistake since I usualy shoot Sensia 100 as a general purpose slide film.

Since spring isn´t too far away anymore, I wanted some rolls to shoot colour in the streets, ranging from people over architecture to (urban) landscapes.

I have to repeat some shots from last year 🙂

Yes, Socke, why the "angst"?

Besides, we're talking five rolls at Eu3 per....*

* Hey, how do I find the sign for a Euro on this site?

Which flavor? I think 100EBX (aka Elite Chrome Extra Color in the purple box, aka 100VS) is awesome.

Positively correct! I have a bunch of 100EBX - it is the "new" Kodachrome.

Hey, as long as K makes film - they will make good film.

So use it while we have it - for however long that may be!

I agree with what has been said thus far. Compared to Sensia, worst case (if it isn't
their super-saturated flavor) is Kodak's characteristic yellow-brown greens, which are
arguably more accurate, if less pleasing than Fuji's intense acid trip green. Of course,
I'm not speaking from experience about that latter--it was the only thing I could
think of.

You're absolutely right. I've been hoarding my last few rolls for months, like an idiot, when I should have been out enjoying them. Thanks for bringing me to my senses before spring!

It is the normal saturated verison, not "Extra Color".

From the spec sheet I read that it's optimized for skintones and I intended it for landscape and street photography. We'll see 🙂

I've never been a huge fan of films that were "optimized" for landscape, i.e., that gave unrealistic "pop". I figure if the skintones are right, then everything else should be reasonably accurate. I understand wanting slightly higher (or lower) contrast for a given shot, but normally a "neutral" film is my preference. YMMV.

You know, it's situations like these that may call for a color-enhancing filter (I think it's called "Didyium"). I used it when I had Provia and wanted to enhance some evening colors, long long time ago. It's a little expensive, compared to other color filters.

It's a thought.

Actually, you should find standard Elite Chrome 100 comparable to Sensia, which I understand is more like Astia than it is like Velvia. EBX was Kodak's Velvia, albeit warmer and not quite as extreme in saturation. I think you'll find a bit more warmth than you're used to from Sensia, but not an unnatural amount. Of course, this may frustrate you, or it may open your eyes to new photographic opportunities. At worst, you'll have something up your sleeve and in your fridge for "special applications" where Sensia would not be a good fit.

I went to the nearby park and nearly finished a roll. I'll finish it tomorrow on the way to the office, or back, and should have it back thursday evening.

Shot some very green ivy, the last ice on a small canal, sky through the twigs and so on.
