Sounded alot like RFF to me. More civil, though.

Yeah, but he obviously has been shooting some sandblasting or something, gotta protect that front element.

It is such a pretty camera! Notic the brassy lens too. It is the elusive, early 50f1.4 with a brass barrell! The rewind crank is known as the "Magnum crank" and is the best of them all.

Imagine the tens of thousands of dollars of film that he had to run through that camera to make it look that way. He could have saved alot of money with a dSLR!

Notice there is no brassing on the speed dial. What did he do, shoot aperture priority?

Look the way it's neatly brassed around the top plate engraving - it looks like it's been deliberately ground down.

I, too, suspect that Erwitt's Leica has been customized. Brassing should only occur where the camera comes in contact with another object, i.e. skin or strap. Notice where it is brassed on the front and top. It is in areas normally not handled. Also, the skin looks in pretty good shape for a camera that has been worked (brassed) that hard.

Shame on him for using UV filter. I bet he fondled it while shooting like Winogrand.

My M3 is dechromed and brassed on some spots. The feel of the camera is incredible. Fingers stick to the camera like on skin. I recommend to anybodyto have a dechromed M3 or M2 or M4...

Nickel. It's a subdued silver color.
Chrome is basically a hard transparent and ultra resistant and luster layer over the Nickel.
