Some days ago I have purchased a wonderful Canon P body.
Now I have to make a quick decision since I have the chance to buy either
a Elmar or a 50/2.5 Skopar for nearly the same money.
I need to know: will the Elmar fit the Canon????

The Elmar will fit, but you may cause damage to the camera's baffles if you collapse the lens when mounted. I am uncertain about this, but someone who knows should be along soon.

It would be very nice if the lens could be collapsed when mounted,
because I'd like to keep the kit pockable.
I'm also afraid the lens could collapse by coincidence and cause damage.
I would really appreciate if somebody knows for sure...

what do you mean with "baffels"..the shutter?....payasam said:The Elmar will fit, but you may cause damage to the camera's baffles if you collapse the lens when mounted. I am uncertain about this, but someone who knows should be along soon.
I do not know the Canon P but it is a older model so I do not know what the problem could be..

..but if it works, look for a red Scale lens!...they are the best..

the back sides of the Elmar could scrape the baffles that cover the shutter curtain drum and the rollers when the lens is collapsed.
