Elmar 90 F4 screwmont, ugly but budgetfriendly . . . .

The link helped a bit, but it didn´t make it look better for my part, because since it happens to be a 4 element lens, there should be one lens element in the tube after dismantling the lens ?, and I don´t have one in the lens I have.

All the elements _are_ in the front, there is _nothing_ in the tube. I repeat... the tube is _suppose_ to be empty.

Sounds like your lense is just fine.

I had the same panic when I looked inside my auction Elmar 90-but I did a focus test comparison on my hand next to some other lenses, andslept fine. Even better when the pictures came back. It's a little lens in a long tube!

Apparently, many of the longer Leica lenses were designed like that, so that you can use the Visoflex in place of the tube.

Vidar: Hope the lens is (optically at least ) fine.
As suggested by aad, did you make the focus test (lens held by hand and wide open) over a white surface?
I guess this test would confirm if the lens is just worn or a piece of junk. Hope it´s just a bit foggy!

Best Regards and my best wishes for Christmas and New Year!

Ernesto

Thanks again !

Nice to have people who know, and even better when they tells you, even for the stupid questions. I´m back in Norway now, and here in my hometown the local stores just know some basic digital, so thanks again.

Now, how to get this Bl**dy adapter in this part of Norway ?

Finally I got the bl##dy adapter . .
The 28/90 ones are hard to get in norway, but who cares, no I have one 😉
Done some testshots, but not got them developed.

At the moment I`m in Argentina, this time for a vacation for a month.
Did some walkabout in San Telmo, found a nice 5 cm Elmar 3,5, nickel and with the old scale . . even found a original adapter from leitz so it fits to the M6.

Paid 280 peso for the lens and 140 for the adapter, that means about 90 usd for the lens and 45 for the adapter. Not so bad I think, Ok this lens is not a collectors item, but nicer than the 90 😉, not bad I say.

I need shops like those to walk into and find lenses that cheap! 🙂 Hope your 90 shots turn out - I know I've enjoyed using the one I mentioned way back then.

Shops like that are scary if you have enough cash with you, most of them dont take credit cards, wich prevent impulse buyings (whatever that is .. 😉 )
What really IS scary is when you walks along, finds a store that names "Classic cameras" and you asks about old elmars, like the 50mm 3,5 , and then the guy at the store brings 7 different ones to the desk . .

Felt a bit like a child in a candystore.

<LOL> I can just imagine. Next time you are checking them out, see if you can find me a cheap 35/3.5 Elmar or Summaron 😀

Good luck and good light!

Finally the testprints are done, and this fare I like the lens, looks like its flares a bit if it´s too sunny, but does not matter, I dont like that kind of weather either 😉

Looks like I bought a winner !
