Hi all,
in Puts' Leica lens list, it appears that the 21mm Elmarit changed in 1985 after serial no 3.363.299
Does anyone happen to know if there is any noticeable difference between the two series of this lens? I'm thinking of buying one from 1983, and was wondering if I should wait until I find one from after 1985.
thanks for you help
Phil

I have a 21 Super Angulon from 1980. It is a fantastic lens. I highly recommend it.

I originally owned a f3.4 Super Angulon and loved it. It does have considerable illumination fall off at the corners but is very sharp. I now own the 21 Elamarit and find it a much better lens as far as illumination but about the same sharpness .

The old Superangulon 21/3.4 is a fine lens, but cannot be used on the Leica M5 or CL. The design changes during the production of the Elmarit-M 21/2.8, which is a completely different design, were, as far as I know, not in the optical system. The first major update was the ASPH.
