I usually turn a blind eye when that happens.

is it me or is everyone on this thread getting kinda cranky ? I mean I've never had a shot that was so important that getting it was enough to get these reactions from what I always considered "the kinder, gentler RFF membership"

On the contrary, all my shots are that important. So are yours. Its not that the particular subject at that particular moment is important for the world to see, but rather it is important to uphold your right to take that shot. To hesitate, look over your shoulder, or pass it by altogether means pay off the ignorance that makes those rules. I want my rights in tact so I will continue to practice them whenever I can.
*EDIT*- That doesn't mean I'm not a generally nice guy, Jan

hey Chris, I wasn't talking about rights.. if you looked at my post I also included a resource I provide for this type of thing for photographers rights. What I was kind of surprised about was how worked up some of us were getting. As one example ...
"If he had talked that smart assed to me I might have slugged him myself. My 'Barney Fife' buddy would swear he swung first."
This surprised me. I was also surprised at how hot some people were on the topic of tourists blocking streets... I understand it's annoying but still I know I've done this at least twice in my life.. but total exasperation over harmless things is surprising. It's like being upset by people who are slow at a check out in the store.
Anyway in the spirit of the original post here's another interesting read on the "catch 22" of shooting unmarked US federal buildings....
