End of an era?

Not too surprising, given the ZD fiasco--took two years to bring the thing to market with a resounding thud. I wonder who much this had to do with MAC's failure or refusal to bring the ZD to the US market? Not sure it would have made much difference, though.

What?!?!?!

Holy cow, man.

Might have to buy something Mamiya just to hang on to a piece.

SAD day. They were the pro camera makers. #1. Peerless. Film would live on. . .

Tears.

I was just going to get started with a Mamiya 6. Oh well.

Better start stocking up on those wind levers.

...I was hoping for a Mamiya 6 one of these days, as well. Of course, I've got to warrant its use, first. My Bronica SQ system is still sitting in a closet.

But the 6 is an RF, so perhaps that qualifies the need...?

Hey, this is a good thing for you in most ways. Means the Mamiya cameras will become rare, collectible. The RFs being the rarest of their modern models. The 6 is certainly destined for that status being a square format rangefinder.

The trouble is that I'm a user, not a collector. The Mamiya 6 system was meant to be the culmination of my photo gear purchases (as the Bronica RF is to you, perhaps?).

Once it starts going the way of the Tasmanian Wolf, prices of the equipment, accessories and spare parts will start to go up. Even now, I'm quite sure that our discussions in this forum will no doubt contribute to a certain degree.

Hey Bill,

Great deal!!! I was watching a similar auction a couple of months ago, but forgot to call back before it ended, so no C330 for me... I really need to use my Rolleicord more anyway, so I'm not sure why I was so interested. I think it was the interchangeable lenses.

Cheers!

Peter

Well, thanks, guys. Weird thing, that. I almost NEVER put in a snap bid, this was one where I was bidding on something else she had on offer (a Cosina-bodied Yashica SLR with Y/C mount, I want to collect the whole realm of Cosina-made identical-but-for-the-marque cameras) and I saw she also had this for sale with a couple minutes left. Slammed in a bid. Had no idea I'd win. I guess I need a waist-level finder and a lens pair now. Sigh.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks
