Hello: I've got a Durst M600 enlarger that didn't have the required SIXTUB lens mount for a 50mm lens. Luckily I was able to procure one (on it's way) but it has the 25mm threads instead of the more common 39mm LTM. I was just going to bore out the 25mm hole and use a 39mm lug nut to hold the lens on (instead of trying to retap the hole at 39mm).
But I've noticed that there seem to be both Rodenstock Rodagons and Schneider Componons with both 25mm and 39mm threads....I have not seen any El-Nikkors or Focotars (obviously) in 25mm.
Is anyone aware if there's any appreciable quality difference between a 25mm or 39mm mount enlarger lens? I do want to buy a good 50mm lens...no use playing at home if I'm going to be unhappy with the results.
Thanks,
Mike

It's not a quality-difference issue, just a matter that some manufacturers standardized on one size and others standardized on the other. I think Schneider was the champion of the 25mm enlarger-lens mount, but the 25mm-mount Schneider I used to own came with a 39mm adapter ring already on it. I'd guess your easiest fix would be either to get the 39mm version of the SIXTUB or a 25-39mm ring; lots more enlarger lenses are available in 39mm, so it would be convenient for you to be able to use either type.

Thanks jlw....I was able to find a nice buy-it-now 50mm Schneider Componon in the 25mm mount for $20CDN on evilpay. I won't have to bore out the SIXTUB....
For that kind of money I always have the option to go with a high-end Rodenstock or Focotar if I'm unhappy with the results.
Cheers,
Mike

Of course, now that I've bought the 50mm lens with the 25mm threads and SIXTUB, I go in to pick up the Durst enlarger, and there's a brand new (never plugged in) Saunders 6700....with everything, 4-blade easel, Gralab timer, grain focuser, trays, etc: $250CDN.
Couldn't say no.....parts are easy to get, dial-in filters, beautiful.
So now, WTB a 39mm-25mm adapter for that Componon I bought.....

I picked up a Durst 606 circa 1956 exactly like the one I had as a kid. The thing was like mint with the original boxes, instructions, etc right down to the Black Forest pine shavings in the negative carrier box. I've decided to do a period darkroom with all the stuff from the days of my youth. Its incredable what you can find on Evilbay especially with darkroom stuff. I can't figure out whether I feel more like Martha Stewart or June Cleaver.
