I have come into possesion of two Beseler electronic boxes. Help please, one is a Dualdichro/dga power supply # 8198 and the other just reads beseler stabalized power supply, with the same number # 8198.
I am just about finished getting an Omega D5 up an running for BW printing.
Back in England when I used to print our power never went out or even lowered in 37 years of living there. Here in the USA when the AC turns on there is sometimes a power drop resulting in the lights dimming for a fraction of time. So would these units help that problem and are they two of the same thing or two parts of one unit. I see no reason why they would not work.
I searched Google and found no help. If pictures are needed let me know.
Thank you for any help in advance.
James.

How much does the enlarger bulb pull? Maybe 100 W, maybe 200W (I doubt that). What does the AC pull, Maybe 5kW +/- or so.

So if you expose through your 100 +/- W enlarger at the unfortunate exact same that the AC comes on, your voltage might drop to 100V instead of he standard 117V for a second and your paper may be a bit underexposed. Maybe. And that will happen once every 3 years, unless you use he enlarger 24/7.

A separate power supply might be nice, though: safer to use, more reliable voltage for that once in 24 months occurrence.

They just might be the same power supply units but made at different times...Mine just says DGA Stabilizer...it has a six prong plug that powers up the color head...this power supply is designed for a specific quartz bulb (EJL, 24V, 200 Watts) if the lamp in the Omega isn't of this kind it will either blow it out or under power it...
It looks like the Omega D5 without the color head uses a 75w/120v lamp...if this is true of the one you have then the Beseler Power Supply will not work...you might want to find another source for a Power Stabilizer...
When it comes to printing I would highly recommend some sort of power stabilizer due to varying incoming voltage in one's home...we know when our neighbors air conditioner turns on as our light dim quite a bit...
