Does anyone have actual experience with the Ensign Commando (6x6?) or Ensign Autorange 820 (6x9?) MF folding rangefinders?
I am interested in getting one (or both), but primarily the Commando. Any opinions on their quality, usefulness and/or sturdiness after all these years would be appreciated. Seems to be very little about these cameras on the web. The Commando is interesting in having film-plane focusing. Also, the enterprising Mr. Arsenall is selling a Commando for $723; a price that appears to be 300-400% the Commando's usual price range.

Hi,
Check out the Marriott Photo site in the UK,and you may find out a little more.
Ensign cameras have a good reputation over here in the UK,especially when fitted with Ross Xpress lenses.
Brian.

I have the Autorange 820 and think it's a great camera. The Epsilon shutter on mine has required service, but aside from that it's been a real pleasure to use. It's a larger camera than the Bessa II (or probably any other 6x9 folder I've used) but I still prefer it because the large brightline finder makes composing photos much easier. And the Ross Xpres lens is very sharp!

Thanks. You are increasing the GAS factor.
