OK, so I have an M8 and nearly shat my pants at Victoria falls because electronics and water don't mix too well. I am probably moving to a much wetter climate than I'm in now so -
What can an M3 handle? Presumably it handles light rain? - and that is at least much much better than an M8.

My guess is that it wouldn't take too kindly to salt water, but anything short of that should be OK as far as the mechanics are concerned. After all, they documented a number of wars with it, which speaks well for its ruggedness. Not that I'd exactly recommend immersing it.
(And the film inside it would not react well to water at all!)
