From what I can find out, the only significant differences between the these cameras is the EP-2 has the EVF, AF tracking, two new art filters, and a black body. Are there other upgrades to the EP-2 that I'm missing???

Nope, that's about it. The VF-2 is reportedly much sharper than the Panny VF, and no flicker. And, you can hook up an external microphone.

Accessory port was added, AF tracking. EVF. My kit just came in and its charging now. I didn't have E-P1 so I can't compare

EVF is suppose to be better than Panasonic. I actually had Panasonic GF1 before so once the battery is charged I'll be able to compare

Wish the EP1 came in black. That's really the only reason I'd want the EP2 but obviously not worth the extra coupla hundred. Maybe at some point, you'll be able to get an EP2 without the viewfinder or a an EP1 in black.

Apparently, the E-P2 EVF has the same resolution than the one on the G1, so it definitely superior to the GF1's. And considering mediocrity of the LCD, maybe having the EVF is worth it. Certainly, it is a must-have under any bright sunny conditions, or for precise manual focusing.

Thanks for the info everyone. The only thing that might appeal to me is the ability to attach external mic's, but I can live without that... Right now the big difference to me is the $400 price diff so it will be the EP-1 for me....

The ep-2 also has full manual aperture and shutter control in video mode. The ep-1 does not. This may be of little importance to you, but it is a very nice feature if you want to also use the Pen to record video with pro looking depth of field. Before this, getting a video cam with changeable lenses and shutter aperture control was a very expensive proposition. While the Pen may not be looked at as a video cam and is very limited in record time etc., I like the added value of getting this pro look on the very few videos I do take.

I see your point quietmouse. It seems there are more additional features on the EP-2 than I thought. And I'm starting to think that while the cost difference makes the EP-1 more attractive to me now, I may want the other features somewhere down the road.....hmmmmm...... But I wonder if the manual controls in video mode could be added to the EP-1 via a firmware update????

Maybe they will offer it as a firmware update...or maybe they will keep it only on the ep-2 to attract more buyers like me. I really see the electronic viewfinder as being a necessity for me. I like to use a viewfinder when street shooting, in small jazz clubs it is also a plus instead of a big glowing screen in a dark room. You can also angle the view finder up and hold the camera low. Couple that with being able to appear on the street like you are using a small camera but really your are shooting HD vid. I want to use the video to record street scenes and make music vids. Just a hobby-kind of an extension of street photography for me.If you think you draw attention out on the streets with your rangefinder try going out with a video cam, it gets everyones attention, especially if you are by yourself.

This would be an advantage as you say. You are convincing me to consider the EP-2 the more viable option. I had been considering the Ricoh GRX, but think the digital Pen would compliment my OM kit better...
