So the problem here is I cant open the EP1 ORF raw files in Lightroom 2. I have already updated camera raw and can open the files in Photoshop CS4 but nothing doing in Lightroom.

As I understand the language in the help file, Photoshop and Lightroom both use camera raw for opening and editing files and share that program collectively, so if I have updated it and CS4 is ok with it, is there something extra I need for Lightroom?

ps. I can see the files in Bridge too.

I am no expert but I don't think the lightroom uses CameraRaw as cs4. From my memory, the LR always has its own update to support newer cameras

I don't know about Lightrooom 2, but I am pi**ed off with Adobe forcing me to upgrade to a new version of Photoshop every time I buy a new camera, just beacuse the raw files of my new camera require the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw, which of course is not compatible with my version of Photoshop. I have managed to escape this deadly spiral of imposed Photoshop upgrades by using the free Adobe DNG converter, instead of relying on Adobe Camera Raw. Adobe DNG Converter can be downloaded for free from Adobe's website and will convert all your ORF raw files into standard DNG files, which can be opened in any version of Lightroom. DNG Converter is very fast and works automatically on whole directories.

Cheers!

I may do that, will see if the conversion process retains the information needed for lens corrections to DNG. And just to make things more fun, my photoshop is acting up with that notorious problem where when you open it the thing wants you to click accept on the license agreement and then doesn't do anything. So much for having a valid copy over a non valid copy.

bah, oh well, it does seem that it is possible that my key could be used by someone else since it was a copy that came from a university.

Yeah actually I called them just now and they gave me a case number and told me to call back in 24 hours. Fingers crossed.
