Does anyone know until which date/year Epson is committed to maintaining it's digital rangefinder cameras? Thanks for your feedback, Peter

According to http://www.epson.jp/support/shuri/10_digital_camera.htm
R-D1 : 2013/4/30
R-D1s : 2016/9/30
R-D1xG : N/A
Would take the repair cutoff date for the R-D1 with a pinch of salt since many parts are shared with the R-D1s.

Thanks, hajime! And if and when second thoughts about the advertisement, please give me a buzz! Cheers, Peter

Well-known
they'll likely continue supporting the r-d1 for as long as they support the r d1xg
and you can probably still get rangefinder parts from cosina if you need them - electronic parts can be found elsewhere if needed. i think there will likely be support past 2020 for the camera.

The best camera is one that still works!

I suspect a 6 megapixel digital RF will be a pretty rare beast in 2020!
We'll be knee deep in 36 megapixel, hybrid viewfinder point and shoots by then!

Sorry for the thread diversion but did not want to start a thread for a simple rd-1 question. Is the "film advance letter" purely aesthetic or mechanical?

I can't see the benefit of zillions of megapixel,
Sooner I'd like to have improved contrast.
Apple will probably provide it with a iPhone first …
