Epson service question...

Probably a stoopid one; For those of you who have had your R-D1 serviced at Indiana, how long was the turn around? Any way to check repair status? Were you alerted to it's being shipped back to you with appropriate tracking info?

My unit reached Epson Service last Friday so they have had it about a week. I'm patient and all, but I just recieved a beautiful Luigi case with nothing to put in it 🙂

When I sent mine I called.

It's a matter of chance whether anyone will be able to help you or not. They are capable of switching you to the actual repair department where you can find out the status, but not all Epson employees are swift enough to do that for you.

It's rude, but just hang up if you get a blockhead and call back until you get someone with half a brain.
 
In my experience last year with Epson Indiana the people who answer the phone (or anyone you can manage to get on the phone after the initial call answer) are completely disconnected from the people who handle the repair and return of your camera. It took about 10 days total and I got the camera back (a refurbished one) without a ship confirmation (although a courier was used, I forget which one).
