How do you perform a batch scan and save it with the Epson V700?

I load and scan 24 -35mm negatives. At the end of the scan (about an hour) I get a pop-up asking me if I want to save the files. I click yes, it shows each frame being saved. At the end the of the save action (about 5 minutes) the pop-up closes. When I look in the directory I only have the first frame saved. None of the other 23 exist.

I've searched the limited online manual and have found nothing. The manual sucks to be nice.

This is from memory, I havn't scanned anything for over a year. Make sure you are in 'professional' mode. Click the 'configuration' button at the bottom of the window. There are not many elements on this tabbed page, there will be an option to either prompt you to save each file or to dump them all in a particular folder.

What is the output type you have selected? That 5 mins is too long - it might be trying to save as a pdf or multi-tiff. Make sure you have TIFF or JPG selected - actually, just try JPG to be sure and then try TIFF.

It had defaulted to multi-tiff, which I incorrectly assumed was the same as a tif file. Changed it to tif and it works. Strange software.

So what us a "multi-tiff"? anyway?

The Tiff format allows you to store multiple 'pages' or images in the same file. All your scans were saved, just that they were all in one very large file.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted and remember to scan with the feet in the three positions (O,+,off) to see which is best (if you havn't done this already).

If you're scanning a lot of rolls, ring Epson to get some spare holders. They were £10 each including postage when I ordered and it really speeds things up to have one pre-loaded when the other one finishes.
